Some great racing to start the World Cup season off this weekend. Funny thing, the UCI got Toon Aerts and Wout Van Aert confused in the captions. Enjoy. Men's Elite Race Women's Elite Race

Pre-Book Review/Podcast Plug: The Brave Athlete: Calm the F*ck Down and Rise to the Occasion

As I shared Monday, I have been spending lots of time looking into and practicing the mental side of our sport of cycling. I bought The Brave Athlete: Calm the F*ck Down and Rise to the Occasion last month, and I have been working my way slowly through it. I can't really give a review yet, but I am working on it. I can however, share with you the great podcast that I came upon today featuring the author's Simon Marshall and Lesley Paterson. The Faster - Podcast by FLO - S1E9:

    Media Monday: Mind Power

If you read the blog regularly, you will know that I always post a fine film on Monday. However, today I see the new episode of the FastTalk Podcast arrive, and I had to share it. "How to Win With Mind Power." I have been working on the mental game of cycling a lot lately, and this new episode fits right in with the books I have started and race tactics I have been testing out. If you don't listen to FastTalk, you should.

    Movie Monday: Rochester CX Videos

So many good pictures and videos coming out of this weekend's Rochester UCI race. Crosshairs Television posted a couple great videos from the weekend, so far, including the course walkthrough I posted at the end of my race report yesterday. Check out their coverage of the women's race, and check back with their channel and website for more to come, I am sure.

Rochester Cross: Attack of The Running Man

The Rochester CX race was an experience. I was excited to race in Rochester as part of a huge weekend that saw lots of hockey and fun in between. Ever since going to watch 2016, I had wanted to return to Rochester and watch the UCI event in person again. This year, I figured I would give racing it a shot. In this, the 7th race I have lined up for, I have never seen the technical challenges in a course like this one before. (See the CXHairs video at the end of this post to see

    Climbing: Getting Your Groove On

“It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -Ernest Hemingway I guess that I learned a little about the hills around Chestnut Ridge Park today. I was not planning on getting out for

    Race Report: BSC Cyclocross

You survived 8 months of people posting #crossiscoming, and now cross is here! The first Western New York race of the season was another great one at Buffalo Ski Club. The course is always a good mix of technical sections and long sections to ride hard. When I arrived on scene I had three sections in mind when I surveyed the course. Two out of the three were still in play, and one had changed significantly. How would this affect the race? We were about to see. Last year, it w
