With the Covid-19 pandemic now upon us, many people are now working from home, out of school, or newly unemployed. Gladly, not many in our area are sick, yet.

These troubling and unsure times have created lots of fear and uncertainty. I am finding myself with lots more free time, as work has slowed and extracurricular activities and sports are canceled. With this free time, I am trying to be smart about what I do.

Social distancing, doing different things, and being smart

I am definitely washing my hands and sanitizing more than ever. When out and about, I am avoiding big crowds and limiting my shopping and such. It also worries me that folks are hanging out at bars and that some bars have papered over their windows. WTF?

When I am running at the park, I am not high-fiving friends or running close to anyone. I am not spitting in public even when running. I grimace when I see people playing basketball at the park.

You should be fine to go on dog walking and doing most every one of your activities. I am limiting my activities to running and walking. The last thing I want to do is to get in a bike accident and have to go into the hospital. I don't even want to think about taking a bed away from someone who eventually needs it more than I do. I may ride, but it will be unlikely until things are more certain.

I canceled my ROMWOD a month ago because I was not able to keep up, but now I am ready to get back into doing it again. When I struggled to log in, I downloaded the Down Dog Yoga APP which is running a free promo until April in response to the pandemic. It was great, and I see they also have barre, yoga for beginners, 7 minute workouts, and HIIT apps as well. Kudos to them for not taking advantage of people, but rather giving in this time. Students and teachers with .edu email addresses can get the free app until July!

I am also keeping a good eye on my WHOOP recovery score every day, and I am trying not to overdo anything. When your body is run down, you are more susceptible to sickness. I for one am definitely not going to work out as rabidly as I have at times in the past. I am going to take recovery more seriously than ever and make sure I stay strong. Who knows who might need me?

I am going to eat healthy, read more, listen to music like never before, meditate in the down times more often, and try harder than ever to bring peace and comfort to all around me. I wish you all well, and I hope for the best for you and yours. Let's all find this time a chance to unwind and build ourselves anew, so we are ready for the new world to begin...hopefully very soon.
